New Ambassadors present Credentials


Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Nepal presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.


His Excellency, Dr. János Balassa, Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Judit Balassa, his daughters Ms. Diána Balassa and Ms. Zsöfia Balassa and by Mr. Tamas Talpai, First Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Hungary.


His Excellency, Mr. Jong-rak Kwon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Yeon-hee Nam and by Mr. Hwan-seong Jeong, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.


His Excellency, Mr. Prabal S.J.B. Rana, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Nepal, was accompanied by Mr. Mohan Basnet, Third Secretary, Royal Nepalese Embassy.


The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Ivor Callely, T.D.,
Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Brian Nason, Chief of Protocol; Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol; Ms. Claire Reeves, Protocol Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs.


The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Deirdre O’Rourke.


The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 1st Infantry Battalion, Dún Uí Mhaoilíosa Barracks, Co. Gaillimh, under the command of Lieutenant Niall O’Donoghue


The Army no. 1 Band was conducted by Captain Declan Whitston.
