New Ambassadors present Credentials


Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Latvia and Greece presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency, Mr. Truls Hanevold, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Leena Husso-Hanevold, and by Mr. Trond Jørgen Grongstad, First Secretary, Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway.

His Excellency, Mr. Mārtiņš Lācis, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Janina Lace and by Mrs. Egita Lase, First Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Latvia.

His Excellency, Mr. Stelios Mallikourtis, Ambassador of Greece, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Anna Mallikourtis and by Mr. Nicolas Protonotarios, Counsellor, Embassy of Greece.

The following also attended the ceremony: Mr. Liam Aylward, T.D.,

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Brendan Lyons, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol; Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol; Ms. Claire Reeves, Protocol Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Laura Keane.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the Field Artillery Regiment, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant David Sweeney.

The Band of the Defence Forces School of Music was conducted by Commandant Mark Armstrong.
